Tom Jeffries knows trains! He’s a certified axle press operator, wheel lathe operator, and Solectron plating operator. His experience with the rail industry began in 1976 as TVM to BART.
Mr. Jeffries was involved in the manufacture of new units, supervised the acceptance of new installations, and assisted with all phase of car testing, prior to delivery. His recent work has focused on Safety Monitoring and supervisor on various projects for BART, which have included the completion and opening of the San Francisco Airport Station, and recently, the WiFi Rail Test Installation.
Projects have included the completion and opening of the San Francisco Airport Station, the neutral underground wireless network in subways of San Francisco, Underground utility duct structures that connect Oakland to San Francisco, along with the fiber optic cable installations and the T-Mobile and Cingular cell throughout the BART right of way. Mr. Jeffries has overseen BART vehicle retrofits, both mechanical and electronic, and has worked with engineers, managers and craft workers on a daily basis.
